Why does one fogged window mean a quote for the whole house? We watched Connecticut homeowners get told their windows, their patio slider, their entire rear elevation needed replacing — when the actual fault was a parted sash cord, a hardened weatherstrip, or a single failed sealed unit on the sunniest side of the building.
Replacement is a far bigger sale. It is also a far bigger disruption, a far bigger bill, and very often completely unnecessary. So Connecticut Doors & Windows was built to do the other job: the smaller one, the one that takes diagnosis rather than a sales script.
That is still the whole business. We repair. We recommend replacing something only when it genuinely cannot be saved, and when we do, we show you exactly why.
An original sash, properly repaired, will outlast the window sold to replace it.

We recommend replacement only when a repair genuinely will not hold — and then we show you the reason, not just the price.
Diagnose honestly
Sometimes nothing is broken. Winter condensation on the room side of your glass is indoor humidity, not a failed unit, and we will say so rather than sell you glass.
Respect the building
Connecticut houses are old. Original sash, period hardware and wavy glass are worth keeping, and we work around them rather than through them.
Fix the cause
New rollers on a ruined rail, or a new lock on a dropped door, buys you a season. We deal with what actually caused the failure.
The people who turn up at your door
This is a specialist trade and we staff it that way. Our technicians work the same systems every day — aluminium and vinyl sliders, multi-panel patio doors, original double-hung sash with cords and weights, mortise locks, and hardware from manufacturers that closed decades ago.
They arrive in a stocked van carrying the common roller, track, hardware and screen components, so the job usually finishes on the first visit. Drop cloths go down, and the old parts and broken glass leave with them.
They will also talk you through what they found. If you want to understand why the windows on the south side fogged and the others did not, or why your doors only stick in August, ask — that conversation is part of the job.
